ARTcare
Discover the Artist in You
ARTcare with Grace is an art creation program designed for Grace Village residents to be in a safe inspirational environment, giving them an opportunity to create art, discover and share their talents, and socialize with their peers. ARTcare with Grace reaches out to residents in independent living, assisted living, and healthcare areas who have an interest in art and an additional focus on residents who are affected by Alzheimer’s/ dementia.
The creative process of creating art can improve a resident’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being. During class time, residents have the opportunity to unlock any trapped emotions, show their unspoken thoughts and feelings, and improve overall well-being and self-esteem. Creating art can also help residents physically and mentally engage parts of the brain that keep their minds active and their memory intact.
The Power Of Art
The ARTcare with Grace Program features an Artist-in-Residence opportunity, as residents develop a feeling of “purpose” for their talent and artwork by exhibiting their work, selling prints and notecards that feature their creations, and gifting to family and friends. As the sale of prints and notecards fund the program, ARTcare continues to develop and grow.
ARTcare With Grace Curriculum
Residents begin the creative process with adult coloring as they, make choices, follow directions and develop personal styles. Some residents find “their place” with adult coloring and others explore acrylic and watercolor painting.
The art curriculum is based on the four seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Each finished art piece is titled with a Biblical scripture that reflects the image that the residents have created.
Gone But Not Forgotten
The ARTcare Angels Door recognizes those residents who have crossed over. Their photos, hanging on the ARTroom door are forever reminders of their participation in the program and the inspiration they left behind.
